Suspects Wanted for Commercial Armed Robbery

Up to $1,000 Reward Offered  

Investigators from the San Diego Police Department's Robbery Unit are asking for the public’s help in locating two suspects wanted for a commercial armed robbery of a Savers 99 Cents Store located in the Mid-City area of San Diego.   

On December 13, 2017, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Irene Lee and Ariel Burrus walked into the Savers 99 Cents Store located at 4129 University Avenue, in San Diego. Lee shoplifted several items while Burrus acted as a lookout for her.  Both suspects went to the checkout counter and Lee pretended as if she was going to pay for just one item. An employee blocked the exit of the store and demanded that Lee show him what she had taken. Neither Lee nor Burrus would cooperate. Burrus tried shoving her way past the employee, but was unsuccessful. Burrus then pulled out a small caliber revolver from the back of her waistband and pointed it at the back of the employee’s head. 

Burrus cocked back the hammer of the gun, and told the employee “let us go.” The employee was able to turn, tackle Burrus to the ground, and took the gun away from her. Lee tried kicking the employee while he was on the ground. Burrus demanded the gun back and told the employee that she will come back and kill him. The employee held onto the gun and both suspects left the store before police officers arrived. Investigators were able to identify both suspects from evidence recovered at the scene.

20th Anniversary of the Unsolved Homicide of Bryan Carter and Vernon Bownes

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects who murdered Bryan Carter and Vernon Bownes twenty years ago. 

On Wednesday, December 17, 1997, at about 11:00 p.m., Bryan Sean Carter and Vernon David Bownes were shot and killed while they were sitting at a picnic table in the front yard of a residence located in the 200 block of Francis Street, in San Diego.  Both victims suffered gunshot wounds to their heads and were pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Based on witness information, investigators believe two Black male suspects walked up to the victims and surprised them.  After the shooting, a Black male and Black female went through the victims’ pockets, removing several items.

Unknown Suspect Wanted for Sexual Assault

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Sex Crimes Unit are asking for assistance from the public to help identify and locate an unknown suspect wanted for a sexual assault that occurred in the Mira Mesa area.     

On November 30, 2017, at 6:30 a.m., a 14-year-old female was walking alone from her house to Mira Mesa High School.  A male suspect approached the female and engaged her in conversation as she walked westbound on the 8800 block of Flanders Drive.  The suspect sexually assaulted the female and then ran northbound through a residential complex.  

Investigators are reviewing other recent cases in the area to see if they are related.

Suspect’s Description:

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male with a dark complexion, 35 to 40-years-old, 5’6” to 5’7” tall, normal build, with short dark colored hair.  The suspect spoke with a Spanish accent.

“Mira Mesa Sexual Battery Suspect.” In that case, a composite sketch of the suspect was provided.  Investigators are asking for the public to look at that composite sketch as that suspect may be related to this case.***

Suspect Wanted for Burglary & Credit Card Fraud

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station are asking for the public's help to identify and locate an unknown suspect wanted in connection with a burglary and credit card fraud case in Encinitas.   

On October 26, 2017 between 7:30 p.m. and 8:15 p.m., a suspect stole a backpack from a locked locker inside the LA Fitness located at 201 S. El Camino Real in Encinitas.  The suspect used a key inside of the backpack to unlock the victim’s vehicle, which was in the parking lot.  The suspect then stole a wallet from inside the vehicle.  

The suspect used multiple credit cards that were inside the victim’s wallet at several different retail businesses and convenience stores in the La Jolla and Midway areas of San Diego.  The stolen credit card purchases totaled more than $1,000.    

Suspect/ Vehicle Description: 

The suspect is described as a White male in his 40’s, standing 6’1” tall and weighing 185 pounds with brown hair. The suspect was wearing a white baseball cap, light blue polo style shirt, gray jeans, black Nike tennis shoes, and a light brown colored jacket (in some of the photos). 

The suspect was seen getting out of a newer model, 4-door, white colored Infinity during one of the stolen credit card transactions.

Unknown Suspect Wanted for Felony Hit and Run

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the driver that struck a pedestrian in the East Village area of San Diego.

On Saturday, November 4, 2017 at about 3:55 a.m., a 47-year-old female, who was in a wheelchair, was in the intersection of F Street at Park Boulevard when she was struck by a silver, newer model, SUV.  The SUV was travelling westbound on F St when it ran over the female and her wheelchair.  The driver of the vehicle stopped momentarily before driving off westbound on F St. The driver turned northbound on 11th St and was last seen driving eastbound on E St.  The victim suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

 Suspect’s Vehicle Description: The hit and run vehicle is described as a newer silver SUV with a tinted sunroof and possibly tinted windows. It also had chrome rims. The SUV had its fog lights and headlights activated and may have front end and undercarriage damage.

Unidentified Suspect Wanted for Sexual Battery

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Sex Crimes Unit are asking for assistance from the public to help identify and locate an unknown suspect wanted for a sexual battery that occurred in the Mira Mesa area.     

On October 12, 2017, at approximately 6:35 a.m., the victim, a 15-year-old female was walking alone from her house to Mira Mesa High School. The suspect approached the female from behind and engaged her in conversation as she was walking westbound on 8800 Hillery Drive. Shortly after, the suspect sexually battered the victim. The suspect fled the area on foot and was last seen walking southbound through a residential complex along 8800 Hillery Drive.

Unknown Suspects Wanted for Felony Charges of Throwing Objects at Moving Trolleys

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Southeastern Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspects responsible for throwing objects at moving MTS trolley cars at various locations throughout Southeastern San Diego.  

Since early June 2017, MTS has reported 19 separate cases in which unknown suspects are throwing large rocks at trolley cars along the Orange Line route. These cases have occurred at various locations from downtown San Diego through La Mesa. Eleven of these cases have occurred at various locations in Southeastern San Diego including:  

68th Street and Akins Avenue (Encanto area) 
43rd Street and K Street (Mt. Hope area) 
47th Street Trolley Stop (Lincoln Park area) 
Euclid Avenue Trolley Stop (Chollas View area) 

The most recent cases have occurred at the 54th Street pedestrian crossing near 54th Street and Market Street (Valencia Park area). 

In all of these cases, one or more suspects are seen throwing large rocks at moving trolley cars causing a large amount of damage to the exterior of the trolley cars. This damage includes cracked windshields, side windows, broken lights, and dented exteriors. The total damage in all of these cases is over $ 40,000. 

Investigators would like to remind the public that throwing objects at a trolley is a felony crime in addition to the vandalism those objects cause. Objects being thrown at the trolley have the possibility of breaking through the glass and causing serious injuries to both the driver and passengers onboard.

2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNSOLVED MURDER OF JUAN CARLOS MUNOZ JR.

$5,000 REWARD

On October 11, 2015 at approximately 7:50 p.m., 18-year-old Juan Carlos Munoz Jr. and his 17-year-old friend were stopped in a vehicle in the 1600 block of Prospect Street in National City, when a Nissan Altima pulled alongside them. The front passenger of the Altima exited his vehicle and approached Juan Carlos Munoz, who was the driver. The suspect asked Munoz and his friend where they were from. The suspect fired five rounds from a handgun into the vehicle. Four rounds struck Munoz on his left shoulder and one round struck the 17-year-old on his left thigh. The suspect fled in the vehicle eastbound on E. 16th Street. Munoz succumbed to his injuries. His friend’s injury was non-life threatening.

 Suspect Description: Per several witnesses, the shooter is described as a light skinned Hispanic male in his 20’s, husky build with a shaved head. The vehicle was described as an early to late 2000’s 4-door Nissan Altima. Both suspects should be considered armed and dangerous.

Unknown Suspect Wanted for Arson

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Metro Arson Strike Team (MAST) are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating an unknown suspect wanted for intentionally setting a hot dog cart on fire.

On Sunday, September 24, 2017, at approximately 5:45 a.m., an unknown suspect lit the canvas cover to a Brooklyn Dogs hot dog cart on fire. The cart was parked near the main staircase to Horton Plaza at Broadway Circle and adjacent to Horton Plaza Park. The fire extended to the cart and caused an estimated $8,000.00 in damages. An unidentified person was seen running from the area at the time of the fire.

Unknown Suspect Wanted for Multiple Burglaries

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Central Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating an unknown male who is committing burglaries in condo/apartment complexes in the Cortez and Park West areas near downtown San Diego. 

On September 9, 2017, at about 2:21 a.m., an unknown male forced entry into a parking garage of a residential apartment complex located at 2665 5th Avenue, in San Diego. The suspect then forced entry into the office and stole a laptop and Amazon package and also damaged several doors. 

On several occasions between September 13, 2017 and September 22, 2017, the same suspect entered the parking garage located at the Aria condo complex, located at 1441 9th Avenue, in San Diego. The suspect went underneath the gate as vehicles would enter or exit. Once inside, the suspect forced entry into the locked bicycle room and used bolt cutters to cut the bike locks.  The suspect stole multiple bicycles during this period.   

Suspect’s Description: 

The suspect is described as a White or Hispanic male, approximately 35 to 45 years old, 180 to 200 lbs. and bald. The suspect wears different clothing during the crimes, but has a distinctive faded red colored hat that appears to have the letters “BUBS” on the front and a black colored SDSU zip-up style hooded sweatshirt.

Unknown Suspect Wanted for Vehicular Manslaughter and Felony Hit and Run

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the driver wanted for vehicular manslaughter and felony hit and run in the East Village area of downtown San Diego.  

On October 2, 2017, at about 7:10 a.m., a red, newer model, Ford Escape was stopped in the northbound lane in front of 500 15th Street in San Diego when a 46-year-old female and her male companion walked to the front passenger side of the vehicle. As a conversation took place between the female and the driver, the female reached into the vehicle. For unknown reasons, the driver accelerated, dragging the female about 15 feet before she fell from the vehicle and landed on her head.  The suspect fled northbound on 15th Street. The female victim was transported to a local hospital where she died one day later (10-3-17) from a head injury. 

Suspect’s Description: 

The driver of the vehicle is described as a White male, in his 60’s, with white hair and a white trimmed full beard.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a red, newer model, Ford Escape. It has a California license plate that is similar to 7WGO798. Note: That is not the correct license plate but it could be something close to that.

Unknown Suspect Wanted for Theft and Identity Theft

San Diego County Crime Stoppers along with investigators from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department’s Poway Station are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating an unknown female suspect wanted in connection with thefts and identity theft. 

On July 28, 2017, at about 1:45 p.m., an unknown female, along with two young boys, entered the Home Goods store located at 13644 Poway Road in the City of Poway. The female retrieved miscellaneous bedding supplies from a store shelf and proceeded straight to the store's return desk where she received $110.95 in store credit.  During the transaction, the female suspect provided a California driver license (CDL) belonging to another woman.  That woman had reported her CDL stolen in January 2017.  After receiving store credit for the items, the female suspect and the two boys left the store.  

Since June 2017, the same female suspect has gone to different Home Goods stores in the San Diego area and exchanged over $4,000 in stolen merchandise for gift cards.  She has used the same stolen California driver license during each transaction.

Jason Blaine Denniston

San Diego County Crime Stoppers is working with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to find and arrest Jason Blaine Denniston.  Denniston is wanted for violating the conditions of his parole by failing to register as a sex offender. His criminal history includes multiple parole violations, violations for failure to register as a sex offender, possession of narcotics, sex with a minor, burglary, and possession of stolen property. 

Jason Blaine Denniston is a transient and is known to frequent the Sports Arena area of San Diego and may sleep in the canyons of Balboa Park.  He has tattoos on his neck and both hands. 

Jason Blaine Denniston is a White male, 5’11” tall and weighing about 190 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.

Suspect Wanted in Ocean Beach Homicide

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating an unknown suspect wanted for the murder of Walter Riley in the Ocean Beach area. 

On June 22, 2017, at 12:28 a.m., 65-year-old Walter “Ras” Riley was stabbed multiple times in the area of 1900 Bacon Street, in San Diego.  Mr. Riley was transported to a local hospital, but later died as a result of his injuries.  The suspect was last seen running eastbound in the north alley of 4900 Newport Avenue.    

Suspect’s Description: 

The suspect is described as a White or Hispanic male, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark colored pants.

Unknown Suspect Wanted for Felony Hit and Run

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the driver that struck a pedestrian in the Mira Mesa area of San Diego.

On August 19, 2017, at approximately 8:00 p.m., an adult male pedestrian was walking southbound across the 8200 block of New Salem Street, in San Diego. A black colored 2-door vehicle was driving eastbound on New Salem Street, failed to yield to the pedestrian, and struck him. Immediately after striking the pedestrian, the driver fled the scene and was last seen driving southbound on Camino Ruiz.   

The victim suffered fractures to his skull, pelvis and left leg. The victim is still recovering from his injuries and is in a rehabilitation facility. 

Suspect’s Vehicle Description: 

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a “domestic” black colored 2-door vehicle. The vehicle may have minor front end damage. There is no description of the driver.

WANTED: Annoying a Child Suspect Lakeside and unincorporated El Cajon

Up to $1,000 Reward Offered

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the Lakeside Sheriff’s Substation want your help in identifying and finding a man wanted for following/harassing two young girls in the East County.  

The first incident happened on June 29th just before 8:30 a.m. near Royal Road and Winter Gardens Boulevard in Lakeside. A man honked as he drove by a 14-year-old girl. She told deputies, the man made a U-turn and pulled over to talk to the girl saying she was “too pretty to be walking.” The man asked if the girl wanted a ride and when she declined the man drove away.

The second incident happened on June 30th just before 1:00 p.m. in the 400 block of Hart Drive in unincorporated El Cajon. A 13-year-old girl was walking her dog when a man honked his horn as he drove past her. The man made a U-turn and followed her to an apartment complex as she tried to walk away. He then asked the girl her age and where she lives. The man drove away when a neighbor pulled into the parking lot.

Detectives conducted an investigation checking for witnesses and surveillance videos with negative results. A sketch is now being released to develop new leads.

The victims describe the suspect as a Hispanic man between 25 to 30 years old. He has blue eyes, a thin build, a shaved head and unshaven or stubble facial hair. The girls can only describe the car as a black newer model car with four doors.

Suspect Wanted for Armed Robbery of GameStop Store

San Diego County Crime Stoppers along with investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Robbery Unit are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating an unknown suspect wanted for a commercial armed robbery of a GameStop store located in the Lake Murray area of San Diego.   

On August 15, 2017, at 5:26 p.m., an unknown adult male suspect entered the GameStop store located at 8898 Navajo Road, in San Diego. The suspect removed a handgun from his waistband and pointed it towards the two clerks who were behind the counter. The suspect placed a black bag on the counter and demanded money from the cash register. The clerks complied. The suspect left the store and was seen getting into a blue or white four door car and driving away on Navajo Road. 

Suspect’s/ Vehicle Description: 

The suspect is described as a White male, 40 to 50-years-old, 5’7” to 5’8” tall, 200 to 250 lbs., wearing a dark red colored wig underneath a black baseball hat, grey sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black gloves. 

The suspect’s vehicle was only described as having four doors and was blue or white in color.

Unknown Suspects Wanted for Grand Theft

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Eastern Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating two unknown suspects who stole various items from a Kearny Mesa area business. 

On July 15, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., two unknown adult male suspects walked into the Little Guy Trailers store located at 8148 Ronson Road. Both suspects worked together to distract employees and act as lookouts while they stole various items from the store. Suspect # 1 (S-1) stole an electric folding bicycle from the back of the store. Suspect # 2 (S-2) and S-1 stole merchandise from the store to include t-shirts, a battery, and store keys. S-1 was last seen riding the bicycle away from the front of the store. S-2 was last seen walking out of the front of the store. The electric bicycle is valued at $1,500.00.   

Suspects’ Description: 

Suspect # 1 is described as a White male, 20 to 30-years-old, 180 to 190 lbs., thin build, wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and a black colored flat brim style baseball hat with the top of the hat being white in color. S-1 also had a large tattoo on his left forearm and was wearing a large wristwatch. 

Suspect #2 is described as a White male, in his 20’s, thin build, wearing a grey and black camouflage design long sleeve shirt, black shorts, and a black baseball hat.

Unidentified Suspect Wanted for Sexual Assault

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Sex Crimes Unit are asking for assistance from the public to help identify and locate an unknown suspect wanted for a burglary and sexual assault.

On Thursday, August 17, 2017, at approximately 1:44 a.m., San Diego Police Communications was contacted regarding a burglary hot prowl in the 2400 block of India Street.   San Diego Police Central Division officers responded to the scene. 

Through the investigation, it was determined an unknown male entered the residence of the victim through an open bedroom window, as she and other occupants of the house slept. The victim awoke and screamed when the male touched her inappropriately.  A resident of the apartment chased the male as he fled out of the front door.  The male was last seen running out of the apartment complex via the east gate leading to 2400 India Street. 

Video surveillance was obtained depicting the suspect walking onto the property via a pedestrian walkway located on the north side of the apartment complex.   

Suspect’s Description:

The suspect is described as a White male with a tan complexion or Hispanic male, between 25 to 30-years-old, 5’9” tall, weighs 170 lbs., brown eyes, mustache and beard with brown medium length hair.  The suspect was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

Wanted Shooting Suspect

Up to $ 6,000 Reward

San Diego County Crime Stoppers along with investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Central Division are asking for the public’s help in locating Ray Pitoau, who is wanted for shooting an off-duty San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Deputy back on August 7, 2017 in the Gaslamp area of San Diego.  Pitoau is considered armed and dangerous.

Ray Pitoau is a Samoan male, 37-years-old, 5’11” tall, weighs 225 lbs., has black hair and brown eyes.  Pitoau has a large “SD” tattoo on his upper right chest.
