20th Anniversary of the Unsolved Homicide of Bryan Carter and Vernon Bownes

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects who murdered Bryan Carter and Vernon Bownes twenty years ago. 

On Wednesday, December 17, 1997, at about 11:00 p.m., Bryan Sean Carter and Vernon David Bownes were shot and killed while they were sitting at a picnic table in the front yard of a residence located in the 200 block of Francis Street, in San Diego.  Both victims suffered gunshot wounds to their heads and were pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Based on witness information, investigators believe two Black male suspects walked up to the victims and surprised them.  After the shooting, a Black male and Black female went through the victims’ pockets, removing several items.

2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNSOLVED MURDER OF JUAN CARLOS MUNOZ JR.

$5,000 REWARD

On October 11, 2015 at approximately 7:50 p.m., 18-year-old Juan Carlos Munoz Jr. and his 17-year-old friend were stopped in a vehicle in the 1600 block of Prospect Street in National City, when a Nissan Altima pulled alongside them. The front passenger of the Altima exited his vehicle and approached Juan Carlos Munoz, who was the driver. The suspect asked Munoz and his friend where they were from. The suspect fired five rounds from a handgun into the vehicle. Four rounds struck Munoz on his left shoulder and one round struck the 17-year-old on his left thigh. The suspect fled in the vehicle eastbound on E. 16th Street. Munoz succumbed to his injuries. His friend’s injury was non-life threatening.

 Suspect Description: Per several witnesses, the shooter is described as a light skinned Hispanic male in his 20’s, husky build with a shaved head. The vehicle was described as an early to late 2000’s 4-door Nissan Altima. Both suspects should be considered armed and dangerous.

The Murder of Robert Juarez Remains Unsolved

Up to $1,000 Reward Offered  

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating two unknown suspects wanted for the murder of Robert Juarez nine years ago. 

On July 10, 2008, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Robert Juarez (28-years-old) was sitting inside his parked vehicle in front of his residence located in the 1600 block of Logan Avenue, in San Diego.  An unknown male suspect walked up to Juarez’ vehicle and shot Mr. Juarez multiple times resulting in his death. The suspect ran to a waiting vehicle, which was being driven by another unknown male. The vehicle was last seen driving eastbound on Logan Avenue. 

Suspects’ and Vehicle Description: 

Both of the suspects were described as possibly being Hispanic. During the shooting, the driver of the suspects’ vehicle was wearing a blue colored construction hard hat. The suspects’ vehicle appeared to be a 2006 pearl white Cadillac DTS with chrome rims.

San Carlos Area Homicide Update

Reward of $7,000 Being Offered  

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspect(s) responsible for the murder of 23-year-old Cyniace Vilsait.

On August 4, 2017, at 10:50 p.m., San Diego police officers responded to the 6600 block of Park Ridge Boulevard for a report of gun shots heard in the area. Officers arrived at the location and learned that an adult male had been shot multiple times in the street and was taken to Kaiser Zion Hospital by a family member. Officers responded to the hospital, where they learned that Cyniace Vilsaint had been pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries. 

There is no suspect information at this time. 

Retired San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Captain Roy Heringer is offering a $ 6,000 reward in addition to Crime Stoppers’ $ 1,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest in this case. Captain Heringer works as a facilities manager at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church where Mr. Vilsaint was a member of. Members of the church are currently working on raising additional funds to help solve this case.

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit are asking for assistance from the public to help identify and locate the suspects responsible for the murders of Joel Branch and Gerald Morris.   On May 25, 2015, Joel Branch and Gerald Morris were shot and killed in the 5300 block of Groveland Drive in Valencia Park.  A third male was also shot a block away, probably by the same suspects.  The suspects were described as two Black males who were on foot.

INFORMATION SOUGHT ON THE 17 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF ANDREW MOORE’S MURDER

REWARD $56,000 

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit continue to look for leads in the unsolved murder of Andrew Moore. September 8, 2017 will mark the seventeen year anniversary of Andrew’s death.

The crime occurred on September 8, 2000. Andrew Moore, a San Diego City College student, was murdered in his apartment in the 1300 block of 8th Avenue, in San Diego. As part of the crime, Andrew’s 1994 Suzuki Katana motorcycle was stolen. The motorcycle was recovered on October 17, 2000, in the 1300 block of 24th Street. The San Diego Police Department Homicide Unit has not yet identified the suspect(s) in this case and are asking for the community’s assistance.

Every year Andrew’s parents fly from Pennsylvania to San Diego to present a student at San Diego City College with a scholarship in Andrew’s name.

Mr. and Mrs. Moore will be available for interviews today at 10:30 A.M., in front of the San Diego Police Department Headquarters, located at 1401 Broadway.

One Year Anniversary of the Murder of Brandon Keiser

$ 1,000 Reward

On March 22, 2016, at approximately 10:05 p.m., Oceanside police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 400 block of S. Freeman Street.  Officers arrived on scene and found the victim, Brandon Keiser, a 35-year-old Oceanside resident lying on the sidewalk in front of 410 S. Freeman Street.  Keiser was suffering from at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives from the Crimes of Violence Unit responded to the scene and spoke to witnesses who reported hearing an argument followed by gunshots.  Detectives are investigating the possibility that Keiser and the suspect knew each other and at this point, do not believe it was a random act.

Three Year Anniversary of the Alberto Sanchez Homicide

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit continue to look for leads in the unsolved homicide of Alberto Sanchez. 

On Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at approximately 6:00 a.m., San Diego police officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting at the intersection of 41st St. and Orange Ave. Officers found 45-year-old Alberto Sanchez lying in the driver’s seat of his vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso.  Paramedics responded to the scene and transported him to a local hospital where he later died.  

The preliminary investigation revealed a male in his 20’s on a bicycle fired several rounds striking Sanchez. The suspect was described as a dark skinned male wearing a dark colored sweatshirt with jeans.

11 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNSOLVED MURDER OF THOMAS JOHNSON

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit continue to look for leads on the eleven year anniversary of the unsolved murder of Thomas Johnson. 

On December 23, 2005, at 10:43 p.m., San Diego police officers responded to a report of a male who had been shot in front of a residence located in the 5000 block of Manomet Street.  Officers arrived at the location and found a male later identified as 31-year-old Thomas Johnson lying in the front hallway of the residence and was suffering from a gunshot wound.  Officers and medics attempted life saving measures, but Johnson succumbed to his injuries.   

The preliminary investigation revealed that Johnson had left his residence at approximately 10:30 p.m. and returned home ten minutes later.  A witness then heard a commotion near the front of the residence followed by several gunshots.

Who Murdered Gregory Huser?

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit are asking the public’s assistance in finding the person(s) responsible for murdering Gregory Huser. On December 12, 2016, at approximately 2:00 a.m., San Diego police officers responded to the 3000 block of Park Boulevard for a report of a deceased person.  Officers arrived at the scene and located 67-year-old Gregory Huser who was lying in the grassy area just west of the road.  Huser suffered trauma to his body and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The preliminary investigation revealed that Huser may have been sleeping when he was attacked.
