Suspect Wanted for Attempted Murder in Poway

San Diego County Crime Stoppers along with investigators from the San Diego Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit are asking for the public’s help in locating Jeronimo Cedillo who is wanted for an attempted murder case that occurred in the City of Poway.
On August 11, 2026, at about 2:52 a.m., deputies from the San Diego Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 14100 block of Brighton
Avenue, in the City of Poway. The reporting party indicated 38-year-old Jeronimo Cedillo had forced entry into a residence and attacked 43-year-old Azucena Gonzalez Martinez with a deadly weapon. Responding deputies located Gonzalez Martinez in the residence suffering from traumatic injuries. Cedillo fled the residence prior to the arrival of the deputies and was not located. Gonzalez Martinez was transported to a local hospital where she remains in critical condition.
Cedillo and Gonzalez Martinez were previously in a dating relationship. Cedillo is known to frequent Los Angeles County, San Diego County, and Mexico. There is a possibility Cedillo fled to Mexico after the incident. There is an active felony warrant for Cedillo's arrest for attempted murder and other charges.
Suspect’s Description:
Jeronimo Cedillo AKA Geronimo Cedillo is described as a Hispanic male, date of birth 5/4/1988 (38-years-old), 5’7” tall, weighs 200 lbs., has brown eyes and black hair.
Detectives from the San Diego Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit are requesting assistance from the community in locating Cedillo or any additional evidence from this incident.
