Suspect Wanted for Felony Hit and Run

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the vehicle and driver that fled the scene of a traffic collision leaving a bicyclist with serious injuries in the Clairemont Mesa West area of San Diego.
On Monday, March 3, 2025, at about 9:58 p.m., a 46-year-old male was riding a bicycle northbound on Genesee Avenue approaching the signal-controlled intersection with Mount Herbert Avenue. The bicyclist was struck from behind by a vehicle that was travelling in the same direction. The impact caused the victim to lose control and crash. The vehicle did not stop and fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital and sustained fractures to his spine, collar bone and ribs.
Suspect's Vehicle Description
Vehicle debris collected at the scene indicates the suspect’s vehicle may be similar to a red colored 2015-2017 Volkswagen Jetta. The damage to the vehicle is likely to be to the front bumper area.
