San Diego County Crime Stoppers along with investigators from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department’s San Marcos Station are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the suspect(s) responsible for a shooting in the City of San Marcos.
On May 8, 2023, at about 7:46 p.m., deputies responded to the Mission Sports Park, located at 931 Bailey Court, following a report of someone discharging a firearm near the park. During the initial investigation, deputies did not locate any injured individuals or received any reports of victims struck by gunfire; however, gunfire entered an occupied baseball field and nearly struck children playing organized Little League baseball.
Video footage from one of the fields captured the gunfire and detectives are requesting any assistance from the community in locating any/additional witnesses, victims, or evidence regarding this shooting.

Anyone with information on the identity or location of the suspect is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department’s San Marcos Patrol Station at (760) 510-5200 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477. Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to an arrest in this case.
