San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the vehicle and driver that fled the scene of a traffic collision leaving a pedestrian with serious injuries in the Little Italy area of San Diego.
On Thursday, April 13, 2023, at about 6:17 a.m., a 32-year-old female was crossing Columbia Street at West Hawthorne Street in the crosswalk when she was struck by the unknown driver of a light-colored pickup truck. The pickup had turned onto southbound Columbia St from West Hawthorne St.
The driver pulled over in the 2000 block of Columbia St, got out of the pickup truck and assisted the pedestrian to an apartment complex. The driver returned to the pickup truck and fled the scene.
The pedestrian was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Vehicle Description:
The pickup truck was described by a witness as a grey Nissan Frontier 4-door 4x4. Videos were obtained showing the pickup truck continuing southbound on Columbia St, turning westbound on W. Fir St and then southbound on Kettner Blvd. Images of the pickup truck can be found on pages 2 and 3 of this release.
Driver Description:
The driver was described as a 38 to 40-year-old Hispanic male.
