UP TO $1000 REWARD
San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the Carlsbad Police Department are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the vehicle and suspect(s) that fled a shooting in the City of Carlsbad.
On December 13, 2023, at about 9:16 p.m., officers from the Carlsbad PoliceDepartment responded to a report of a vehicle collision on Alga Road between El Fuerte Street and Xana Way. Additional callers reported hearing gunfire. Responding officers located a single vehicle collision with one occupant, who had suffered a gunshot wound.
Officers later discovered a second occupant of the vehicle, also struck by gunfire. The second occupant left the area with a third uninjured occupant of the vehicle prior to police arrival. Both other occupants were located at a nearby area hospital. None of the injuries were life threatening. None of the identified occupants associated with the vehicle were Carlsbad residents. Evidence suggests that the victims’ vehicle was fired upon from a second vehicle and this case may be gang related.
Detectives are requesting any assistance from the community in locating any/additional witnesses, victims, or evidence regarding this shooting.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Carlsbad Police Department, Detective Chris Collier at (442) 339-5569 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477.
