WANTED: Chollas Creek Area Homicide Suspect

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspect responsible for the murder of 26-year-old Lazaro Orozco. 

On August 2, 2019, at approximately 2:30 p.m., San Diego Police Officers responded to a call of a shooting that occurred in the 4000 block of 52nd Street, in San Diego. Officers arrived and located 26-year-old Lazaro Orozco, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Officers as well as medics from the San Diego Fire Department performed life saving measures on Orozco. Orozco was transported to a local hospital, however, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

San Diego Police Homicide Detectives were called to the scene and began investigating the incident. Investigators learned Orozco and an unknown suspect were involved in an altercation near the intersection of 52nd Street and University Avenue. The altercation continued towards the 4000 block of 52nd Street where the suspect pulled out a gun and shot Orozco. The suspect was last seen running away westbound on University Avenue. 

Suspect’s Description: 

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male with a dark complexion, 5’6” to 5’8” tall, 20 to 30-years-old, medium to heavy build, wearing a blue jacket, white shirt, plaid shorts, and white tennis shoes. The suspect appeared to have a cast or “Ace” style bandage or brace on his left arm.
